Pala’s first “Honoring Traditions” gathering was featured in an article in the San Diego Union-Tribune on August 31, 2019. The article focuses on the importance of maintaining tribal cultural traditions like bird singing, peon, and shinny, and describes some of the history of the people of Pala. The article includes interviews with Pala tribal members Eric Ortega, Mel Lavato, and Diana Duro, along with Chairman Robert Smith.

We are proud that the inaugural gathering was such a success and look forward to next year’s event.
