Honoring Traditions Gathering

The Pala Band of Mission Indians, the Cupa Cultural Center, the Pala Cultural Resources Committee, and Planet Pala are pleased to announce the Pala Honoring Traditions Gathering which will take place on Sunday, August 31, 2019, starting at 12:00 p.m. at the Pala Rey Youth Camp, Pala, CA.

Join us on Saturday, August 31, 2019, starting at noon to learn and experience the rich traditions of Pala, including bird songs, shinny games, bow and arrow making, peon lessons and demonstrations, a peon tournament, and more. Planet Pala KiDS will also be there with a fun, hands-on environmental activity zone. And of course, there will be Indian tacos!

The Pala Honoring Traditions Gathering honors the people and culture of Pala. We invite everyone to come to celebrate with us.

  • Bird singing, peon, bow and arrow shooting, contests, games, and other activities
  • Shinny demonstrations and games (local teams only)
  • Planet Pala KiDS activity zone
  • Indian tacos and more

Peon Workshop
Pala Band California Cupa Cultural Center Event Honoring Traditions Gathering
The Pala Honoring Traditions Gathering will include a two-hour youth workshop from 4 pm to 6 pm on how to play peon. Now is your chance to learn the rules, strategies, and songs for playing one of Pala’s oldest traditional games. Boys and girls 17 and under are all welcome. Call or email the Cupa Cultural Center to sign up.
